VA Amputation System of Care ASoC provides comprehensive specialized services for veterans with limb loss through tiered network of care. Seven Regional Amputation Centers offer highest level specialized rehabilitation. 18 Polytrauma Amputation Network Sites provide regional expertise. Over 100 Amputation Specialty Clinic Teams deliver local interdisciplinary care. Services include pre-amputation evaluations comprehensive rehabilitation prosthetic and orthotic services pain management mental health support and vocational assistance. Secondary prosthetic limbs available for recreation and sports. Teams include physiatrists prosthetists physical therapists occupational therapists nurses and mental health providers. Lifetime care coordination ensures continuity through all phases of recovery. No out-of-pocket costs for enrolled veterans. Orientation manual available for new patients.
